Bob McCarty Writes has learned that former vice president-turned Global Warming activist Al Gore is having his name legally changed to Al Niño. Gore will announce his name change within the week, according to anonymous sources. First, however, he wants to ride the wave of public attention generated by his most recent media effort, the announcement that a series of Live Earth Global Warming Concerts would take place July 7.

Below is an excerpt from a prepared statement — a copy of which was obtained by Bob McCarty Writes — Gore is expected to deliver Feb. 19:

“A lot of people know me as ‘the former next president of the United States, as a cold politician named Al Gore.’ By changing my name to Al Niño, I think a lot more people — especially Hispanics — will receive me more warmly as I travel the globe to promote my concerts and work to save the planet from greenhouse gases and prevent climate change.”
