Obama Beating Clinton with Video and ‘Friends’

March 6th, 2007 · No Comments

One month ago in this space, I read a Newsweek column by Howard Fineman in which he asked the question, “Is Obama losing the web war?” Afterward, I published a post under the headline, Obama Appears to be Losing Web War. Today, I must retract that conclusion, because my research shows the Illinois senator-turned presidential candidate is proving me wrong.

Case in point #1: The well-made YouTube video below which, I’m sure, will air on television during the next 18 months. The video repaints the Apple 1984 commercial with Obama colors and features Sen. Hillary Clinton as the “Big Brother” speaking to a room full of gray, lethargic citizens (a.k.a., politics-weary voters).

Another example of Barack Obama‘s web prowess was reported on a unique political web site, www.techpresident.com. Among 2008 Democrat and Republican presidential candidates, the site offers many statistics, including the fact that Obama‘s campaign has attracted twice as many so-called “friends” to his MySpace.com account. Whether or not that’s a good indication of web traction remains up for debate. But.Much like John Edwards‘ recent Iowa-specific video (see previous post), Obama‘s video offers little of substance about his plans for the country. Hence, the reason the WARNING LABELS ON POLITICIANS campaign has called upon Obama to display Warning: Barack Obama.

If you agree that politicians like Obama are dangerous and should be required to display warning labels on all advertising, literature and signage related to their campaigns, click here to see warning labels merchandise for all of the 2008 presidential candidates.
