60 Minutes to Air Interview of Haditha Marine

March 15th, 2007 · 6 Comments

In a previous post at Bob McCarty Writes, we encouraged its readers to “do what you can to support this Marine.” The Marine in question was Marine Lieutenant Colonel Jeffrey Chessani, a career officer facing a court-martial for doing his job to the best of his ability in Haditha, Al Anbar, Iraq.

Now, we’ve learned from Drudge that one of Chessani’s men, Staff Sgt. Frank Wuterich, has given an interview to CBS journalist Scott Pelley for airing on the network’s 60 Minutes program Sunday at 7 p.m. ET.

Be sure to watch this show, then contact your member of Congress to make sure you’re concerned that all members of our Armed Forces — especially Colonel Chessani, Sergeant Wuterich and the other men invovled in the Haditha incident — receive justice instead of being “thrown under the bus” for the sake of political correctness.

To learn more about the case, contact the Thomas More Law Center at (734) 827-2001 or visit their website at www.thomasmore.org.

Thanks for posting this! These Marines need all the support they can get.

I saw the report and was disgusted by CBS and their ‘reporting’ of the ‘facts’ (as they see it). Sgt. Wuterich has NOTHING to be ashamed of; he committed no wrongdoing beyond what is asked of him for his duties. The only people who should be ashamed are Scott Pelley and CBS News.

I hope that Sgt. Wuterich and the other men involved will see their names cleared.

I saw this 60 Minutes also, and Scott Pelley made me sick. I was so upset I was shaking after the interview.

Thank you! My husband is a Marine and a 2x Iraq veteran. I found you while doing a Google search to hear what the buzz was on this interview. So far, most of what I’ve found has actually been against this reporter and his obvious bias. It’s people like you that makes my husband proud to serve.

This is about a young soldier (and now I think there are more who are in the same predicament) who is being brought up on charges of murder for an incident that caused Iraq people to die. His name is marine SSG Frank Wuterich. Who sent him there to “police” that country? Who taught him how to deal with situations of this kind and how to handle it? I’ll tell you who incase you don’t have time to guess, THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. He was doing exactly was he was trained to do, in a manner that was taught by our military. They kill us everyday by people who can not be recognized by what they wear. No informs, just regular people in everyday dress and our government expects this young man (who I think is only 25) to determine if they are bad or good…(and his decision could be his own death ) IN A SPLIT SECOND. That is ridicules by any mans standards. This man should be honored for just being there and serving his country and doing his duty. What is the matter with us and our government? Did we prosecute any of the pilots that flew over Iraq and dropped bombs and not only destroyed buildings, but killing innocent bystanders that just happened to be in the area…NO ! Why are you picking on this young man for doing his job? I expect some one to intervene (like the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES) to stop this non-sense. Give this man his life back.

Frank — Read the first paragraph of this post before you go making accusations. I’m on the side of SSgt. Wuterich, just like you. The difference, however, is that I read a post before criticizing its author. Geez!!!
