Thanks go out to my longtime friend, Jerry, in Montgomery, Ala., for contributing this bit of humor about illegal immigration to Bob McCarty Writes:

“The other day, I needed to go to the emergency room. Not wanting to sit there for four hours or longer, I put on my old Army fatigues and stuck a patch that I had picked up at a garage sale to the velcro square sewn above the shirt pocket.

“When I arrived at the ER, I noticed three-fourths of the people there got up and left. I guess they weren’t that sick after all. Maybe the patch I was wearing had something to do with it.”
