McCain Diagnosed with Partzheimer’s

March 30th, 2007 · 1 Comment

A quick reading of three items posted on Drudge Report today leads Bob McCarty Writes to conclude Arizona Sen. John McCain might be suffering from Partzheimer’s, a rare memory-loss affliction sometimes referred to as Convenient Memory-Loss Syndrome.

Partzheimer’s

The basis for this long-distance diagnosis can be found by reading three news items which were posted on Drudge Report today:

  • The first item, by Bob Cusack, was published today in The Hill and included comments McCain made during a recent appearance on Sean Hannity’s radio show: “I was approached by Democrats, sure. I was approached by Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) to run as his running mate in 2004 and I rejected it out of hand.” Laughing, McCain added, “It was the smartest thing I ever did.”
  • The second item, a partial transcript of a McCain appearance on Fox News Radio’s The Tony Snow Show July 7, 2004, included the following exchange between Snow and McCain: SNOW: “…is it true that John Kerry asked you to be his vice president?” McCAIN: “Uh, no. No, it was never offered.”
  • The final item, which appeared in the Apr. 7, 2004, edition of The Daily Oakland (Mich.) Press, reported that McCain has said he would not run with Kerry, but last month he renewed speculation when he was asked on ABC’s Good Morning America program whether he would consider running with Kerry. He replied, “Obviously, I would entertain it.”

So, there we have it: Sometime before Apr. 7, 2004, he said he obviously would entertain running as Kerry’s vice; on Apr. 7, 2004, he would not; on July 7, 2004, he said it was never offered; and, this year, he said he was approached by Kerry and rejected it out of hand.

Can we really trust a person with such a poor memory — or, rather, someone with memory loss issues — to serve as leader of the free world? Never. At the same time, however, we must not blame McCain — or New York Sen. Hillary Clinton who was diagnosed with the same affliction just days ago.

Partzheimer’s affects people in the public spotlight — politicians, movie stars and high-profile corporate executives — more often than any other group of individuals,” one doctor told Bob McCarty Writes. While under oath and while on the campaign trail, the frequency of occurrence of Partzheimer’s symptoms increases exponentially. [See previous post for more details on this dreadful disease.]
