Blogger to Make Second Appearance on BBC Radio

April 3rd, 2007 · 2 Comments

As blogger-in-chief at Bob McCarty Writes, I’ve been invited to appear as a guest for the second time in as many months on BBC Radio’s World Have Your Say program to discuss the appropriateness of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s trip to Syria against the wishes of the President George W. Bush. The program airs live at 12 Noon Central in the United States.

Regular readers of this blog might recall my March 16 appearance on the program to discuss the case of the so-called “Haditha Marines” who are facing possible courts-martial for their heat-of-the-battle actions which resulted in the deaths of some civilians in Iraq. [To listen to the audio of that program, click here. My voice is the one introduced as "Robert from Missouri".]

Obviously, I will take the side of the Bush Administration when it comes to the question of whether or not Pelosi’s fact-finding/foreign policy trip is appropriate, especially during time of war. I believe Pelosi’s actions undermine both the authority of the Office of the President and the foreign policy efforts of Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice and her team at the Department of State.

Be sure to listen to today’s broadcast and, afterwards, post your comments here.

The fact that at least four Republicans and three other Democrats have also visited Damascus in recent months changes nothing. Unless they had the blessing of the president (and I don’t believe they did), they, too, have undermined our nation’s foreign policy.

The list of “underminers” includes Reps. Joe Pitts (R-Pa.), Frank Wolf (R-Va.) and Robert Aderholt (R-Ala.) as well as Sens Arlen Specter (R-Pa.), John Kerry (D-Mass.), Bill Nelson (D-Fla.) and Chris Dodd (D-Ct.).

Good for you! Glad you have a link to the program posted too.

Thanks for posting that list of “underminers” Yes I don’t care if they are republican or democrat; their job description does not include diplomat.

    Have a good evening!
