Good News Mandatory in Russia; USA ‘Enemy’

April 21st, 2007 · 1 Comment

Today, the New York Times — yes, the Times — published an Andrew Kramer article, 50% Good News Is the Bad News in Russian Radio, that points to a further tightening of restrictions — this time, freedom of the press — facing the people of Russia under President Vladimir Putin. Oh, yes — and one more thing: The United States is to be portrayed as an enemy, according to Russian journalists contacted for the story.

Demand Freedom imageWell-written, it’s well worth your time, that is, if you’re interested in current events that I predict will be recorded in our great-grandchildren’s history books as precursors of a return to Cold War-style living.

As a Cold War veteran, I don’t look forward to a return to the days of a never-ending Arms Race and political posturing over ever two-bit geopolitical issue that flares up on Planet Earth — especially when we have this little War on Terror issue thusfar unresolved.

If you would like to show your support for an alternative to Putin’s old-style Russia, do it with the English words “Demand Freedom!” and “Freedom! Freedom! Freedom!” translated into Russian and attractively emblazoned on a wide variety of merchandise at The Bob McCarty Shop. Click here or on the image above to see the selection.
