There’s a lot of talk — and, from the politicians in Washington, D.C., rhetoric — about the issue of immigration. Because a lot of it is buried in news articles below pithy comments made by our esteemed elected officials, I thought I should share the “Top 10″ list below:
TOP 10 SOLUTIONS TO ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION
* Provide much-needed protection at our borders and ports.
* Deploy ample interior enforcement so illegal aliens can be identified and returned to their home countries.
* Toughen sanctions for employers who hire illegal aliens.
* Support legislation that ensures active cooperation between federal and local law enforcement, facilitating the apprehension and deportation of illegal and criminal aliens.
* Stop encouraging illegal entry by saying “NO” to amnesty measures, which only result in more illegal immigration.
* Reduce legal immigration to traditional levels.
* Eliminate “chain” migration by limiting “family reunification” to spouses and minor children of legal immigrants.
* Stop terrorists via new regulations for student and tourist visa holders that make their location and movements known.
* Eliminate “birthright citizenship” for children of illegal aliens.
* Reduce foreign pressure to immigrate to the United States by implementing sanctions against countries that promote or facilitate illegal immigration into the U.S.
If you agree with the measures above, contact Republicans in the U.S. Senate and make sure they know where you stand. They represent our only best hope to stop the developing immigration reform plan (a.k.a., the SHAMNESTY plan). Contact information for GOP senators appears below:

The problems is that people see immigrants as being either good or bad when the answer is much more complicated.

Asymmetric — When the future of one’s country is at stake, one sometimes have to whittle things down to good and bad, right and wrong, legal and illegal. People like you, who may have a vested interest in immigration (i.e., ties to Cuban immigrants?), may be tempted to sugarcoat the issue. I, on the other hand, am not tempted. My Top 10 above, if implemented, will right the U.S.S. America so she can sail for another quarter-millenia. Thanks for posting. — Bob

I agree with your list which is enforcement based. I’m talking about a method for dealing with legal immigration mostly. What to do about those here is a tricky problem.
Some of your solutions like birthright citizenship is a long shot.
I’ll link to yours.

Good one, some great ideas…
absurd thought -
God of the Universe says
pass poorly written laws
give lawbreakers amnesty
pretend to be cracking down
