St. Louis Newspaper Won’t Ask Terror Questions

June 27th, 2007 · 2 Comments

Folks, it appears the St. Louis Post-Dispatch simply refuses to acknowledge the “elephant in the room” when it comes to articles about eight individuals indicted early last month on federal weapons charges. In recent weeks, the newspaper has reported the following:

In articles published May 1 and May 2 (links to which are no longer available for free at the P-D web site), Post-Dispatch reporter Robert Patrick provided basic elements of the alleged crimes.

In an article June 20, he reported on the first plea agreements entered into by two of the named individuals, Abdikarin “Ice” Warsame and Charlie M. “Chuck” Hunt.

Finally, in a no-byline article today, the newspaper reported on a plea agreement entered into by Mousa M. Abuelawi, a person said to be the key player in the scheme.

To date, five others have yet to enter plea agreements in the case. They are: Otha L. Baker, Mohamed Judeh, Hussein Ali Nure, Thaer Abde Sumad and Darnell T. Thornton.

Not mentioned in any of the articles above are details of the nationality, citizenship and religious persuasions of the indicted individuals. Also omitted was any attempt to address whether or not any of the indicted individuals — in particular, those whose names appear in bold above — might have ties to known terrorist organizations.

Apparently, the folks at the Post-Dispatch don’t think you need to know such apparently minor details about individuals — remember, three of them have entered guilty pleas — alleged to be dealing with machine guns and Claymore anti-personnel mines in their community.
