since when did saying a racist remark ever been a crime, it is a word not to say that it cannot do damage it is a word . it is not it not like ones killing large groups of certain peoples.so anyone who exspresses that they hate jews or africans or whatever only by speach goes jail is this right look at dog the bounty hunter is was betrayed by his own son for saying the n word all for disagreeing with him for dating a afro american womon peace

Antony — Yes, it’s there, but the same language isn’t in the Senate version…and another thing: Until people like you prove to me there is a need for legislation like this that places violent crimes into a hierarchy of sorts, I’ll vehemently oppose it. Be sure to read Section 8 of the version passed by the House:

SEC. 8. RULE OF CONSTRUCTION.

Nothing in this Act, or the amendments made by this Act, shall be construed to prohibit any expressive conduct protected from legal prohibition by, or any activities protected by the free speech or free exercise clauses of, the First Amendment to the Constitution.
