Gore Could Win Nomination With Media’s Help

June 28th, 2007 · No Comments

With the help of willing accomplices in the news media, the Al Gore just might succeed in staging his own political revival. Case in point: Ellen McGrit.

In the July 2007 issue of Fast Company, McGrit begins an article about the former vice president-turned evangelical leader of climate crisis movement (a.k.a., The Warmin’ Church™) this way:

Not long ago, he was the butt of jokes — lockbox, earth tones, a postelection beard. Then he dusted off an old slide show and jumped with both feet into the private sector. The untold story of how an epic loser engineered what may be the greatest brand makeover of our time.

In the 4,000-word love letter that follows, McGirt expertly fulfills her role as a Gore “spin doctor”. In fact, near the end of the puff piece, she pens the ultimate suck-up sentence:

Politically, his outsider status makes him a potential kingmaker.

For McGirt to label Gore a political “outsider” is akin to someone saying this blogger might consider making an endorsement of the former U.S. Senator, two-term vice president and failed presidential candidate. IT SIMPLY ISN’T TRUE!

With the help of McGirt and others like her, Gore’s “non-campaign” seems to be working well. He finished atop the list of preferred Democrat Party candidates in a New Hampshire presidential poll of 500 voters conducted June 20-24 by WHDH-TV and Suffolk University.
