SYA — I agree that Bush 41 has let the country down in some regard when it comes to out-of-control spending. At the same time, however, he had plenty of help from uncooperative Democrats in Congress who seem to place self interests and political party interests above national interests such as freedom and democracy. As for oppression of the poor, warrantless wiretaps and trials without a jury, I think your arguments are lame. Just wait until you and your liberal colleagues get your way and we end up fighting Al-Qaeda on the streets of your city, in your neighborhood and on your front porch. Then, hopefully, you’ll recognize that you were wrong. Sadly, “then” might be too late. Thanks for posting. Get well soon. — Bob

If you just substitute “G W Bush” for “the Democrats” of those days, the speech rings completely true. Especially the part about runaway Govt spending, opression of the poor, Fed agents arresting epople without a warrant or a trial by jury, etc.. etc. It is incredible how this party has so turned around and become a hundred times worse than what they thought they were fighting.

Funny how the Left continues to this day to ridicule and minimize Reagan. The man and History will thwart all of their pithy efforts. Efforts that poorly conceal the fact that the Left has no great living answer to Ronald Reagan; only a sorry collection of lessers.
