Weight of History Clearly Against John Kerry

July 21st, 2007 · No Comments

Hat tip to Jason Steck who hit the nail on the head yesterday with his piece, Revising History, at Michael P.F. van der Galiën. Here’s the lead paragraph:

Senator and former Democratic Presidential candidate John Kerry is throwing everything into his effort to promote an immediate withdrawal from Iraq. Unfortunately, among the things he is throwing is historical accuracy. In terms that echo major figures like Noam Chomsky who tried to deny the facts about the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia during the 1970s, Kerry is denying that the post-Vietnam brutalities of “reeducation camps” and genocide against the Hmong people ever occurred. But, as Blue Crab Boulevard nicely summarizes, the weight of history is quite clearly against Kerry’s reinterpretation.
