People who visit Answers.com and type “Mohammed the Bear” into the search box will find a link to the headline of my Nov. 29 post, ‘MY NAME IS MOHAMMED THE BEAR’ on Sale Now!, near the top of about 269,000 search results, proving that this plush teddy bear remains popular almost two weeks after it was made available for purchase at The Bob McCarty Shop.

The MY NAME IS MOHAMMED THE BEAR was designed as a keepsake for those who want to remember the case of Gillian Gibbons (a.k.a., “the teddy bear teacher”). You might recall, she was the British school teacher in Sudan who received a pardon from the African country’s president after serving a short prison sentence and avoiding much harsher punishments demanded by protesters in that predominantly-Muslim nation. Her crime? She had allowed Muslim students in her Sudanese classroom to name a teddy bear after the man Muslims regard as a prophet.
