“Shoot!” probably isn’t the word Mitt Romney’s using to berate himself over a claim he made on NBC’s Meet The Press program, but it seems appropriate nevertheless. the Republican presidential candidate was, after all, the victim of a self-inflicted “dumbshot” wound Sunday morning — and it’s still “bleeding” today.

Under pressure from host Tim Russert on the issue of guns, Romney wrongly claimed he had received the endorsement of the National Rifle Association while running for governor of Massachusetts in 2002. As a result, Romney’s been taking a beating in many corners of the mainstream media and blogosphere alike. Take a look here.
