Googling Bob McCarty Produces Surprising Results

December 18th, 2007 · 3 Comments

A study by the Pew Internet and American Life Project revealed that 47 percent of Americans admitted to Googling themselves, according to an Associated Press report this morning. Counting myself among that group of Googlers, I’ve decided to share the surprising results of a Google Advanced Search of my name with readers of Bob McCarty Writes.

After typing “Bob McCarty” in the “Exact Phrase” blank and limiting the search to produce only English-language results within the past year, I clicked the “Google Search” button.

Only .21 seconds later, my 10:14 a.m. Central search produced 15,700 English-language results, the first page of which is, not surprisingly, dominated by posts at Bob McCarty Writes and by listings of best-selling merchandise items at The Bob McCarty Shop.

Feast Movie DVDMore interesting to me than results about sites with which I’m intimately familiar were other “Bob McCarty” results.

For instance, I learned in one result that Bob McCarty is an actor with a filmography and everything. Did you know Bob McCarty starred in Feast, a film that highlights hard-drinking patrons of a small-town dive bar and their fight with a vicious family of flesh-eating creatures? I had no idea!

Strange Tales on DVDI discovered Bob McCarty is a comic book artist whose work appears in Strange Tales. You can even find Strange Tales on DVD.

Cannondale RC Cola/Moonpies JerseyBelieve it or not, Bob McCarty is a professional mountain bike rider who’s blog banner reveals he just signed a 2008 sponsorship deal with Cannondale. Not sure, however whether or not he’s a big fan of RC Cola or Moonpies.

NASCAR® fans will appreciate that Bob McCarty is a photographer whose work appears on the web site of Joe Gibbs Racing.

One guy wrote in a blog post that he “had to listen to a speech by Bob McCarty, president of National Federation of Catholic Youth Ministries (NFCYM)s.”

I learned through the Springfield Business Journal that Bob McCarty is fighting copper theft as manager of Commercial Metals Co., a recycling center in Southwest Missouri. There’s a great photo of him at the top of this page.

Finally, I learned that Bob McCarty is a pastor at Liberty Church in Jefferson, Texas, where the Lord is pouring His Spirit out through the efforts of several people and churches in Cass County.

Vote Bob! 2008 Men’s Long-sleeve T-shirtWith “Bob McCarty” so active and involved in so many aspects of life, I wonder if anyone name Bob McCarty is running for public office in 2008. If you run into one, let me know. Better yet, get him a Vote Bob! 2008 t-shirt. It’ll make a great Christmas gift for anyone named “Bob McCarty” or, simply, Bob.

Wow - I think I am overwhelmed by myself! And now I feel over-committed and stressed out. I need a vacation very soon.
