While reading a recent Editor & Publisher article, I was struck by the realization that the central figure in the piece, ex-Mormon cartoonist Steve Benson, has no reason to fear for his life after publicly criticizing certain aspects of what Mitt Romney refers to as “the faith of my fathers.”
Unlike the Danish cartoonist who had a large bounty put on his head by Muslim leaders, Benson has no reason to fear assassination because his criticism involved no cartoon drawings and had nothing to do with Islam. Instead, it had everything to do with the Mormon Republican presidential candidate and the impact his faith might have on his presidency.
Benson’s beliefs about the country’s first serious Mormon candidate to vie for the White House are noteworthy for three reasons:
1. He’s an ex-Mormon;
2. He’s the grandson of Ezra Taft Benson, former leader of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-days Saints (a.k.a., “the Mormon Church”); and
3. The only thing he might have to fear from Mormons is an effort to kill him with kindness. For that, he should be thankful.
I won’t spoil the article for you. Instead, I’ll suggest you click here to read it.

Funny how one can make fun of anything remotely akin to Christianity without fear (ie., the progressive media), while a prod at Islam gets you a fatwa.
Eh…BTW, did you hear the one about Allah walks into a bar….?
