En route to New Hampshire, Republican John McCain is getting a lot of mileage out of his third-place finish in the Iowa Caucus. At the same time, he must realize his days as a presidential contender are numbered, in part, due to a skeleton in his campaign closet:![]()
McCain is on record as saying he supports the work of an organization whose efforts oppose U.S. sovereignty.
Before you start thinking I’m a closet Ron Paul supporter, I caution you to think otherwise. I reached my conclusion, in part, after reading a recent Cliff Kincaid article published by Family Security Matters. In that article, Kincaid tips readers to the existence of a 2005 press release issued by Citizens for Global Solutions.
CGS describes itself as “a grassroots membership organization that envisions a future in which nations work together to abolish war, protect our rights and freedoms, and solve the problems facing humanity that no nation can solve alone” that promotes “effective democratic global institutions that will apply the rule of law while respecting the diversity and autonomy of national and local communities.” [Translation: The group advocates doing away with U.S. sovereignty and, it appears, Senator McCain does, too.]
So what’s in the news release? The headline gives a hint:
Citizens for Global Solutions Applauds Senator McCains Support of the International Criminal Court
The lead paragraph reveals more details:
In a BBC Worldservice televised debate before the World Economic Forum on Friday January 28th, Senator John McCain (R-AZ) declared his support for the United States joining the International Criminal Court (ICC), asserting: “I want us in the ICC.”
A few short paragraphs later, one can see the type of ultra-liberals with whom McCain shares his beliefs:
“Speaking alongside McCain was Senator Joseph Biden (D-DE), ranking Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Like McCain, Biden stood in support of the United States inclusion in the ICC…”
Enjoy it while it lasts, senator. As soon as Mike Huckabee thinks the time is right, he and Ed Rollins are going to let this “genie” out of their bottle of campaign tactics and, quicker than you can say “I’ll win New Hampshire,” your presidential hopes will be dashed.

Un-Fair and Un-Balanced…
When it comes to Fred Thompson, the only way to describe Fox News Channel is — un-fair and un-balanced. The Iowa caucus results had Fred Thompson and John McCain TIED for third place. Today Fox News with Brit Hume discussed…

I think that you’re going to be surprised by the results in New Hampshire. Sure, he only placed 4th in Iowa, but his focus has been on NH. The Republican party didn’t count on a weakened Romney going into NH. So what happens when McCain beats Romney in NH? We’ll see pretty soon, won’t we?

Storm — Either you didn’t read the post or you don’t care that your candidate is willing to sacrifice our sovereignty. Who cares about NH when the country’s future is at stake? I don’t!

I’m not much of a political handicapper (my luck with picks in the NFL/NCAA add fuel to this), but I think after all the ’spin’ and posturing in the early going, McCain’s time came and went in ‘00. I project either Guiliani or Romney to ultimately take the nomination. Neither is my first choice, but that’s where I see it going. Huckabee will fade.
Granted, I picked the Denver Broncos to go 10-6 and make the playoffs this year, too

I read the post…I just do’t agree that McCain’s run is finished. And yes, the country’s futur is at stake. That’s why, IMO, people like Paul, or Giuliani, or Thompson, shouldn’t represent the Republican party.

…and anyone who listens to Cliff Kincaid’s rantings really needs to consider the source. He’s being suggesting the sky is falling for years, usually pointing to CGS as the cause.

Now that I’ve re-read your post and then read the 2005 press release issued by Citizens for Global Solutions, all I can say is that your post is disingenuous on its face. That press release, regardless of whatever “CGS” says its agenda is, speaks about the United States becoming part of the International Criminal Court. It has nothing to do with giving up American sovereignty.

Disingenous, Stormwarning? You must really like Senator McCain’s Kool-aid.
