Search for ‘Change’ Produces Strange Results

January 5th, 2008 · No Comments

Democrat presidential candidates have used the word “change” a lot during the past week. In fact, Barack Obama used the word to win the Iowa Democrats Caucus and John Edwards appeared to embrace it during the ABC News New Hampshire Debates tonight — but they did so without offering many specifics. Curious to understand exactly what types of “change” Obama and Edwards have in mind, I decided to conduct an online search for the word, “change.”

My search involved the following steps:

First, I went to Google;

Next, I typed the word “change” in the search block and limited my search to the past week; and

Finally, I clicked on the “search” button.

Below is a screenshot of the search results, which I cropped to show only the top two search results.

Search for “Change”

When I clicked on the second “change” result shown, I was whisked to a web page (click here for a screen shot) which caused me to wonder whether I had found the type of “change” Democrats hope to deliver if elected to the White House.

I hope not.
