Anti-McCain Effort Teeters on Brink of Failure

January 24th, 2008 · 2 Comments

Today, it appears the future of one anti-John McCain effort rests upon how well the Arizona Republican performs in tonight’s Republican Presidential Candidates Debate in Florida and in the upcoming Florida and Super Tuesday primaries.

McCAIN’T 2008 Yard SignI first reported on the effort — dubbed the ‘Apostrophe T Campaign’ by its organizers — 15 months ago in an exclusive report. Five months later, I offered an update in which I concluded that the effort — which involves simply adding an apostrophe and letter “T’ to the end of the candidate’s name on campaign yard signs (see graphic at left) — seemed to be working. Lately, however, it appears the campaign has lost traction.

All I had to do to reach that conclusion was review today’s Real Clear Politics national average of polls which shows Senator McCain leading opponents Mike Huckabee by 7.3 percent, Mitt Romney by 10.3 and Rudy Giuliani by 14.3.

All things considered, I still just can’t see McCain getting the nomination. If he does, I’m sorry to say I have lived to see the end of the Republican Party as I knew it. Not only that, but it will guarantee that Hitlary or Obama gets the White House.

    I admit it….I’m no fan of McCain’s.
