Forget the issues of global warming, Iraq, health care and, most importantly, jobs and poverty. Democrat John Edwards will add “Drop Out of the Race” to the to-do list that appears on his campaign web site’s home page.
The former North Carolina senator and John Kerry running mate will, according to news reports this morning, make his announcement on the same day as Republican Rudy Giuliani is expected to announce his exit from the 2008 presidential race. Unlike Giuliani, who will reportedly endorse John McCain today, Edwards is not expected to announce any such endorsement.
UPDATE: According to an on-air Fox News report at 9:53 a.m. Central, Edwards will make his announcement at Noon Central in New Orleans, the same city where he launched his 2008 White House bid one year ago.
