Among the three remaining candidates with an opportunity to win the 2008 presidential race, only one — Republican John McCain — is living up to his promises when it comes to reducing government spending.
According to a report about the federal budget for fiscal year 2008 by Taxpayers for Common Sense, the U.S. senator from Arizona did not sponsor a single piece of legislation that provides discretionary federal dollars (a.k.a., “earmarks” or “pork”) to fund projects in his home state. Conversely, leading Democrat Party candidates Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) and Sen. Barack Hussein Obama (D-Ill.) either sponsored or co-sponsored legislation to send more than $342 million and $91 million, respectively, to their states in the form of pork-barrel spending.
The difference: More than $433 million.

Question: Are all earmarks bad? Simple question that should be a relatively easy answer.

Of the 3 remaining candidates? Did I miss something? When did McCain’t win the delegates needed to wrap-up the nomination? I was suprised by that statement given the fact that Huckabee’s still in this race and currently only 6% behind in the Texas polls.

JRed — Read the first line of the post carefully. I wrote: “Among the three remaining candidates with an opportunity to win…” The operative word is OPPORTUNITY. As much as I like Huck, I’m also a realist and know he doesn’t have a chance to win.
