Woods Fund President Silent on Obama Votes

February 27th, 2008 · 11 Comments

Two days ago, I published a post containing a news release issued the by the folks at WorldNet Daily. It alleged that Sen. Barack Obama served as a paid director of the Woods Fund alongside a confessed domestic terrorist and that, during Obama’s term, the Chicago-based nonprofit group’s board voted to provide $75,000 in grants to the controversial Arab American Action Network.

After the post appeared Monday as an article on the citizen journalism site, NowPublic.com, I was challenged by an editor there to find out whether or not Obama actually cast a vote in favor of funding the AAAN. “Fair enough,” I thought to myself before accepting the challenge.

At 4:30 p.m. Central the same day, I forwarded the e-mail below to Deborah Harrington, president of the Woods Fund:

Email to Woods Fund Prez

More than 40 hours have passed, and I have yet to receive any reply from Harrington in which she either confirms or denies whether or not Obama cast any votes in favor of providing grants for AAAN during his tenure on the Woods Fund board of directors.

If Ms. Harrington is willing to provide proof otherwise, I will gladly publish it. Until then, I’m forced to conclude that Obama did, in fact, vote in favor of funding the controversial Arab group that, according to WorldNet Daily Middle East correspondent Aaron Klein, mourns the establishment of Israel as a “catastrophe” and supports intense immigration reform, including providing drivers licenses and education to illegal aliens.

UPDATE Noon Eastern: At 11:53 a.m. Eastern, I received an e-mail from Aaron Klein. It came in response to an message I sent to him this morning, notifying him of the post above. He wrote:

I am certain of every word in my Obama article. FYI, I’ve had several email exchanges with Deborah Harrington since the article was published and she didn’t dispute anything.

UPDATE 3/08/08 — 4:40 P.M. Eastern:  Still no reply from the president of the Woods Fund.

Well done, Bob. A most interesting story which reflects perfectly the stench from the Obama campaign.

I went to high school with William Ayers and know his background. What connection does Obama have with him? I understand that the only reason Ayers was not prosecuted for terrorist activities was that the FBI failed to present evidence in a legal manner. Can you shed any light on that?

If you go to http://clinton4.nara.gov/WH/New/New_Markets_Nov/factsheets/fs-991105-1.html, you will notice that Bill Clinton promoted the Woods Fund. Before anyone thinks this is a smoking gun, notice that Dennis Hastert, a Republican, joined Clinton in a bipartisan effort to help the poor of the inner city. So it’s
Rashid Khalidi -> Woods Fund and Obama -> Dennis Hastert -> President Bush

You can have as much fun playing the six degrees of George W. Bush as you can the six degrees of Barack Obama. Rashid Khalidi, VP of American Task Force of Palestine, addressed in 2006 by President Bush’s Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice who compared the Palestinian nationalism to that of America’s founding fathers.

    To Mary,

This isn’t a question of 6 degrees – Obama acknowledges a friendly relationship with this domestic terrorist. He has been in the man’s home – sat on the Woods board with him for over 3 years and shared the stage with the man and his wife, Bernardine Dohrn, who was on the FBI’s 10 most wanted list, numerous times. Someone who aspires to the US presidency does not have that sort of relationship with people like this. The Weather Underground were responsible for numerous bombings around the country – members killed 2 police officers during an attempted robbery – 3 of their own members died when a bomb meant for military recruiters detonated in their townhouse. Along with his relationship with Rev. Wright it is obvious BO is not fit for the presidency.

If this man Bill Ayers is so bad why is he a professor at the University of Chicago? He is instructing our children. He is out there and not arrested by the police. This is another smear campaign they are trying to put on Obama. I am very surprised that people on this board believes it is okay for this man to teach in our schools,m it is hard for them to believe that Obama may have been on a friendly basis with this man. If he is so bad he should be in jail , right? Do you think because you disagree with someone you have to avoid them? Maybe Obama does not agree with his beliefs, but that does not mean if he worked with him he can not talk to him. That is plain ignorant. People do not fall for this.

Mary I think you need to do a bit more reading about the Weather Underground. Ayers was arrested, but he wasn’t convicted bec. of technicalities with the prosecution. After all these years, he does admit to setting bombs, and regrets that he did not set off more. Really you have too much naive faith in academics. Just bec. someone is a respected for their academic work, does not mean they do not have questionable ethics and radical political views. Hahaha… that last part made me laugh.

I keep reading that Ayers and Obama have a tenuous connection, but they served on the Woods Fund for 3 years together, live in the same neighbourhood and no their children aren’t the same age so they didn’t attend the same school at the same time. So the idea that Ayers and Obama have the kind of relationship where their children go to the same school is false.

The dogma of the Obamites is clearly leading to massive amounts of denial.

After all this time, so much is coming out. I find laggal’s post amusing. The last sentence, So the idea Ayers and Obama have the kind of relationshipe where thier children go to the same school is false? Is that the only part you find false and yet the rest of your post shows they really do know each other very well. That’s the point!!! They know each other. Who cares if their kids are not the same age. Woo!

  • 11 Julie // Oct 21, 2009 at 10:29 pm

If I had done what Bill Ayres had done I wouldn’t be able to get a job much less where I would be teaching kids. How does he get away with that? In fact how do people in that whitehouse get away and not put in jail for hiding assets on their taxes? I mean this is outrageous. Tell us the people how to get them all out. I think no one knows what to do about it and hoping someone will step up and lead the way to impeachment?
