NCAA Tourney Field Narrows to 32 Teams

By the end of the day, 32 teams will have been trimmed from the field of 64 hoping to advance to the NCAA Final Four Basketball Championships in San Antonio April 7.

The biggest upset came in a West Regional game in Tampa when #13 seed San Diego upset #4 seed Connecticut, 70-69, in overtime. (See photo below)

The biggest near-upset thusfar came when #2 seed Duke narrowly escaped with a 71-70 win over Belmont, a #15 seed, in the West Regional. (See photo below)

In the kind-of-surprising category, #10 Davidson beat #7 Gonzaga, 82-76, in the Midwest Regional. (See photo below)

In the not-so-surprising category, #6 seed Marquette beat #11 Kentucky, 74-66, in the South Regional. (See photo below)

Likewise, #10 Kansas State upset #6 Southern Cal, 80-67, in the Midwest. (See photo below)
