Sunday is always a great day to catch up on news that doesn’t always show up in the mainstream news media headlines. Below are a few of those items.

The FBI provides links to some interesting stories from across the nation under the headline, FBI’s Top Ten News Stories For The Week Ending March 21, 2008.

Halfway around the world, a military blogger at Badgers Forward reports on an unusual, albeit minor, personal success in an unusual post, Coins – Going 4 for 4.

Two items from the world of conservative nonprofits caught my attention. The first comes from the Alliance Defense Fund and begins this way:

DES MOINES, Iowa — Attorneys with the Alliance Defense Fund and Christian Legal Society filed suit Wednesday against Iowa officials on behalf of the Association of Faith-Based Organizations. The suit challenges rules excluding religious charitable organizations from receiving voluntary donations from state employees as part of the Iowa One Gift campaign. The other item comes from the Thomas More Law Center and deserves a look:

ANN ARBOR, MI — Representative Sally Kern has received over 27,000 vulgar, hate filled e-mails, her life has been threatened, her son falsely accused of being a homosexual, her financial supporters contacted and asked to no longer support her, and a leading homosexual activist entered her husband’s church last Sunday and took notes on her husband’s sermon. At times, as a precaution, a state trooper walks by her side when she enters the State Capitol. The reason – Representative Kern, an Oklahoma legislator, married to a local Baptist minister, spoke at a public Republican club meeting in which she gave information about the political strategies of activist homosexuals to defeat conservative candidates. Her comments were secretly taped, and appeared as a “You Tube” audio clip. Click here to read the rest.

Finally, Jeff Emanuel wraps things up with a post that applies primarily to those under the Democratic Party umbrella. It appeared under this headline: It’s been a bad couple weeks for the Reality-Based community.
