I’ve driven nothing but Honda automobiles since returning to the U.S. from Japan 18 years ago, mostly because I appreciate the reliability and craftsmanship of my Honda vehicles.
On the inevitable occasions when someone — a friend, a neighbor or someone I meet in passing — tells me I should buy made-in-America automobiles instead of “rice burners” made in Japan, I respond by explaining that both of my cars — a minivan and a sedan — were assembled right here in the good ol’ US of A. That usually leaves them struggling to make a counterpoint.
From now on, however, I think I’ll give a different response to anyone who tells me I should buy a vehicle made by one of the Big Three automakers (i.e., Daimler-Chrysler, Ford or General Motors); I’ll tell them to watch the video below and to be sure to read the “About This Video” info that accompanies it:
P.S. If, by the time I make my next new car purchase, any of the Big Three automakers have put on the market a vehicle that’s made as well as my Honda vehicles have been, I’ll buy one.
