Dan Little, the Carrollton, Mo.-based trucker generally credited with organizing the nationwide shutdown of independent owner-operators April 1, called me yesterday to let me know he’s at it again, this time working with a small cadre of truckers from around the country to launch a new truck drivers organization, tentatively called Owner-Operators United.
The owner of Little & Little Trucking, L.L.C., and operator of the USCattlehaulers.com web site, Little said the group is in the planning stage now and will formalize the organization’s structure soon. Once that stage is completed, the group will fight to tackle some of the toughest issues facing truckers, including — but not limited to — high fuel costs and insurance.
He added that plans call for driver representatives in every state as well as a revolving board of directors to ensure fair representation of all drivers. For more details about the fledgling organization, click here.
