“People who live in glass houses should not throw stones” unless they want to go without power until repairs are made.

One day in the near future, Professor John Bell of Australia’s Queensland University of Technology hopes the statement above will become a reality. And, it appears it will, thanks to glass solar cell technology he’s working to develop.

Working with Canberra-based Dyesol, transparent solar cells in development can act as both windows and energy generators in houses or commercial buildings. He said they stand to make a significant difference to home and building owners’ energy costs and could, in fact, generate excess energy that could be stored or sold back to electric utilities.
