Efforts to convince Americans to celebrate CINCO DE MUSTARD — instead of Cinco De Mayo — continue despite a government public relations counter-effort that surfaced today in the form of a news release issued by the U.S. Census Bureau:
Cinco de Mayo celebrates the legendary Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, in which a Mexican force of 4,500 men faced 6,000 well-trained French soldiers. The battle lasted four hours and ended in a victory for the Mexican army under Gen. Ignacio Zaragoza. Along with Mexican Independence Day on Sept. 16, Cinco de Mayo has become a time to celebrate Mexican heritage and culture.
Why the Census Bureau feels obligated to promote a holiday celebrating Mexican heritage and culture is beyond me. With the holiday less than one week away, perhaps a review of some cogent points from my March 7 post is in order:
Cinco De Mayo celebrations are not appropriate in a day and age when roughly 10 percent of Mexico’s population of 107 million resides in the United States. Incredibly, according to the nonprofit Californians for Population Stabilization, more than half of them — 54 million or more — are here illegally.
To celebrate the heritage and culture of a country that so blatantly disrespects the United States, its legal system and the American way of life is, arguably, akin to disrespecting the United States directly. Therefore, until we stop the flow of illegal immigrants from Mexico, I recommend Americans stop celebrating Cinco de Mayo. In its place, we can create and celebrate another holiday that, to the Spanish language-impaired celebrants among us, also appears to be condiment-related — CINCO DE MUSTARD!
With a CINCO DE MUSTARD t-shirt like the one shown above right, you can join me in waging a peaceful protest against the government of Mexico and against the flow of illegal immigration across our southern border.
Celebrate CINCO DE MUSTARD — instead of Cinco de Mayo — May 5!

yes yes yes. In my town the summer represents a practically endless celebration of the mexican lifestyle. They seem to be the happiest people around here. The mommies out strolling their flock of kiddies chatting happily on cellphones while waiting for their free bus rides to their free schools and free doctors visits. Whats not to be happy about? The rest of us disenfranchised citizens drive around stressed out and unhappy. Thanks Bush, Kennedy, Mccain,
