Fed’s Pro-Cinco De Mayo Push Continues

May 1st, 2008 · 1 Comment

For the second time in three days, the U.S. Census Bureau has seen fit to put the nation’s Hispanic population in the national spotlight as a holiday celebrating Mexican culture and heritage approaches:

  • Today, under the cover of a news release about Hispanic population estimates, the Census Bureau revealed that the nation’s Hispanic population increased 1.4 million to reach 45.5 million on July 1, 2007, or 15.1 percent of the estimated total U.S. population of 301.6 million.

What the Census Bureau did not reveal was an estimate of how many of those 45.5 million Americans were legal citizens and how many were here illegally. According to the nonprofit Californians for Population Stabilization, at least 54 million Mexican citizens — roughly half of the population of Mexico — are here illegally.

That leads me to restate the argument I first put forth in a post March 7:

To celebrate the heritage and culture of a country that so blatantly disrespects the United States, its legal system and the American way of life is, arguably, akin to disrespecting the United States directly. Therefore, until we stop the flow of illegal immigrants from Mexico, I recommend Americans stop celebrating Cinco de Mayo. In its place, we can create and celebrate another holiday that, to the Spanish language-impaired celebrants among us, also appears to be condiment-related — CINCO DE MUSTARD!

With a CINCO DE MUSTARD t-shirt like the one shown above right, you can join me in waging a peaceful protest against the government of Mexico and against the flow of illegal immigration across our southern border. Celebrate CINCO DE MUSTARD instead of Cinco de Mayo — May 5!

I’d opt for Cinco de Ketchup, as symbolic of the need to ketchup to the illegals and cinco de processes they use to elude officials and stay here illegally.
