In yet another counter-punch to CINCO DE MUSTARD efforts, the U.S. Census Bureau has once again attempted to focus the nation’s attention on Cinco de Mayo, a holiday celebrating Mexican culture and heritage.
The agency’s news release today — the third in less than a week — offered this repetitive pitch:
While Cinco de Mayo is tomorrow, May 5th, many events celebrating this important date on the Hispanic cultural calendar have been held this weekend. One of the biggest festivals is on the waterfront in Portland, Oregon. By the time the four-day event winds up today, some 300,000 people are expected to have enjoyed entertainment, dancing and ethnic foods. The origin of the observance goes back to 1862, when outnumbered Mexican troops defeated the invading French forces of Napoleon III at the battle of Puebla. There are more than 28 million people of Mexican descent in the U.S., some 9 percent of the total population. Nearly 11 million of these live in California.
Though the feds have more money and resources with which to wage this propaganda battle, I have BMW readers like you to help make a difference. Help me spread the word about CINCO DE MUSTARD by passing along this message to everyone you know:
To celebrate the heritage and culture of a country that so blatantly disrespects the United States, its legal system and the American way of life is, arguably, akin to disrespecting the United States directly. Therefore, until we stop the flow of illegal immigrants from Mexico, I recommend Americans stop celebrating Cinco de Mayo. In its place, we can create and celebrate another holiday that, to the Spanish language-impaired celebrants among us, also appears to be condiment-related — CINCO DE MUSTARD!
With a CINCO DE MUSTARD t-shirt like the one shown above right, you can join me in waging a peaceful protest against the government of Mexico and against the flow of illegal immigration across our southern border. Celebrate CINCO DE MUSTARD – instead of Cinco de Mayo — tomorrow, May 5!
