My one-man campaign to convince Americans to celebrate CINCO DE MUSTARD — instead of Cinco De Mayo — continues today despite a government public relations counter-efforts during the past week that surfaced in the form of news releases like this one and this one issued by the U.S. Census Bureau.
Why the Census Bureau feels obligated to promote a holiday celebrating Mexican heritage and culture is beyond me.
Cinco De Mayo celebrations are not appropriate in a day and age when roughly 10 percent of Mexico’s population of 107 million resides in the United States. Incredibly, according to the nonprofit Californians for Population Stabilization, more than half of them — 54 million or more — are here illegally.
To celebrate the heritage and culture of a country that so blatantly disrespects the United States, its legal system and the American way of life is, arguably, akin to disrespecting the United States directly. Therefore, until we stop the flow of illegal immigrants from Mexico, I recommend Americans stop celebrating Cinco de Mayo. In its place, we can should celebrate another holiday that, to the Spanish language-impaired celebrants among us, even sounds more American — CINCO DE MUSTARD!
Join me in waging a peaceful protest against the government of Mexico and against the flow of illegal immigration across our southern border and celebrate CINCO DE MUSTARD — instead of Cinco de Mayo — today, May 5!
