Though support for Al Gore’s crusade against human-caused global warming has waned with each passing month, the former vice president is still out and about touting his brand of environmental snake oil. In addition, he’s added something else to his repertoire: Slapping the faces of our military men and women.
According to a report in a student-run newspaper at The Ohio State University, Gore told a crowd of about 3,000 on Sunday that he believes today’s students are the next American heroes:
“These are not normal times. You must become America’s third hero generation.”
Gore added that previous American “hero generations” were the founders of this country and the young people of World War II. He said he believes current environmental issues are as important as these past national trials.
Certainly, I can’t find fault in Gore citing George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and their contemporaries as heroes. Nor can I fault his choice of World War II-era young people — my father included (see Americans Must Be Willing to Change, ‘We All Came Home Alive!’ and My Father’s War Stories from World War II for some examples). I put my foot down, however, when it comes to insulting the bravery, courage and sacrifice displayed by members of the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps as this nation wages the Global War on Terror.
The only thing I find more unbelievable than the left-wing-snake-oil pitch spewing out of Gore’s mouth is the fact that some people buy it! After all, it is simply GLOBULL WARMING.

I agree with this part of Gore’s statement:
“These are not normal times….”
