While blogging early Monday afternoon inside my St. Louis-area home, I heard something hit the bay window behind me. “BANG!”

Because none of my kids were around and no one was in the yard outside that window at the time, I assumed the worst: I was under attack!

When I went outside, however, I learned my “attacker” was the oriole at right. Evidently, he had mistaken the reflection in the bay window on the back side of my house for someplace he wanted to go and, sadly, the impact with the glass broke his little neck while leaving nary a mark on the glass.
