Obama Fears World Might Turn Against USA

May 19th, 2008 · 1 Comment

“We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times … and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK,” said Barack Obama, speaking Saturday to a crowd estimated at 60,000 in Portland, Ore. “That’s not leadership. That’s not going to happen.”

BMW Translation: If Americans continue to eat three squares a day, drive vehicles powered by internal combustion engines and live in air-conditioned comfort that is symbolic of the American Dream, Obama thinks the world is going to turn against us (i.e., the United States).

Apparently, the presidential candidate and likely nominee of the Democrat Party fears the prospect of the world turning against the United States. While I don’t relish such a prospect, neither do I believe it is imminent. Nevertheless, I’m willing to accept some of the positive outcomes that might result from such a turn. The list of positive outcomes includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • People around the world will no longer want to come to the United States; therefore, the issue of illegal immigration should go away;
  • Countries around the world will no longer want — or accept — foreign aid from the United States; therefore, the federal deficit will shrink;
  • People around the world will no longer want to eat food grown, harvested and/or processed in the United States; therefore, Americans should have plenty of food; and
  • Oil-exporting countries will suspend shipments of oil to the United States, forcing liberals in Congress to lift environmental restrictions and remove bottlenecks that have prevented the U.S. oil industry from realizing the full potential of its heretofore untapped domestic energy resources. As a result, the U.S. will realize energy independence for the first time in decades, gas prices will fall and carpooling will once again become an option and not a necessity.

I’m certain other positive consequences might result from a flood of anti-American sentiment abroad, so I’m going to leave it up to you to share those consequences with your fellow BMW readers in the comments section below. Thanks in advance for your contributions.
