Yesterday, Mark Steyn concluded his article at The Corner on National Review with the statement below.
Strange to witness one of the oldest and most successful of nations commit suicide without even being aware of what it’s doing.
To see how he reached that conclusion, click here. I think you’ll find his observations spot-on.

"Yikes! I Might Be...Militia!"

Hi, again. Here’s my shameless plug and current take on the political scene, with the assumptive nomination of McCain/Obama/Barr/Baldwin (GOP/Dem/LP/Constitution).
As a former Republican, I find it funny that this Grand Ole Party is neglecting it’s own decline with the suicidal nomination of an elderly Teddy Roosevelt resurrected. Fittingly enough, at least the Bull-Moose had the honesty to label himself a “PROGRESSIVE.” This Bull-mouth, John McInsane, a foot soldier in the Reagan Revolution was he? What’s that –A Conservative?
Yes, indeed, and it’s so great here in the “homeland” now that Reagan-Bush & Company balanced the budget, ended socialized economic practices, abolished the department of education, and restored federal functions of government not expressly established in the Constitution to the States (as per the 10th amendment, remember that one?).
Party’s over, and all that will be left election day-after is the humiliation of Barry Goldwater rolling over in his grave, saying, “not in my Arizona, not in my America, John McCain –Conservative he is not.”
I’m voting for Bob Barr, real conservative –Conserving the liberty established in the American Constitution of Government. Conserving the ideals of our Revolution for Independence that have been so abandoned by the Grand Ole Party, the Republicans merely have sought to use military aggression to take up the world empire and “constabulary missions” of the former British Empire we ourselves once fought against for Freedom.
Iraq was carved out after WWI by the British, as was Syria and Lebanon made artificial nations by the French. It was military interventions by western nations that caused the strife and unrest in artificial political arrangements ignorant of self-determination or cultural custom.
It was League of Nations styled and later United Nations inspired military aggressions (interventions) led by Western and Christian nations against Eastern and Mohammedan nations that so inspired hatred of us Western nations –Not for our words or ideals (Faith and Freedom), but for our actions (Bombardments and Assassinations).
George Washington forewarned Americans in his Farewell Address of 1796 “…Against the insidious wiles of foreign influence,” and that would include our so-called Western allies such as Britain, “the jealousy of a free people ought to be constantly awake; since history and experience prove, that foreign influence is one of the most baneful foes of Republican Government. But that jealousy, to be useful, must be impartial; else it becomes the instrument of the very influence to be avoided, instead of a defence against it. Excessive partiality for one foreign nation, and excessive dislike of another, cause those whom they actuate to see danger only on one side, and serve to veil and even second the arts of influence on the other. Real patriots, who may resist the intrigues of the favorite, are liable to become suspected and odious; while its tools and dupes usurp the applause and confidence of the people, to surrender their interests.”
To stay in Iraq one more day is to surrender our interests, is the price of a foreign freedom worth economic bankruptcy and loss of liberty at home? But as for our freedom, and as for terrorism, look again to the Constitution… “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” Yet the Republican Party is ready to nominate a gun-grabber for the Presidency. And we need to fight for freedom overseas? What happened to it over here?
Britain has an immigration problem? What, where does the Reagan-Bush-McCain history on immigration stand? The real story is that Republican Party is committing suicide, but the real and only shame is that it is taking America with her.
Vote for Freedom. Vote for Barr 2008. Or, there’s alway’s Chuck Baldwin of the C.P., but Barr has a shot at making history, as once did a young political party in 1860. Nothing lasts forever. Libertarian Party for the Founders principles.

Don — I’m thinkin’ about Barr myself. It’s gonna take a concerted effort by a lot of folks to make him viable though.

Gald to hear it! I know it will take alot, but the infastructure has been being laid for some time. And, I’ve never seen the current level of frustration in American politics thoughout my life –It’s been bad, but never this bad.
For conservatives to win, they must 1.) Assert that Bush isn’t and hasn’t been one of us, and 2.) effectively claim the higher ground in the political system by attacking both of the two parties as hopeless. This can only be done by a third party, so I’ll hope you and many more join in promoting it as much as possible.
