		<description>I think you missed the point.  Looking at the road filled with gridlocked automobiles I saw machines-not people.
This is important because I would argue our energy use is attached not to population size but to economic size.  Our economies need to use energy to power factories, office complexes, and a number of different forms of transportation.
Cut down on the size of the economy or amount of energy that economy uses to exist and you may see a fall in the amount of energy used (hopefully a in pollution generated too).
Focusing on population rather than the economy leads to a China-like effect where the number of children born each year falls (&quot;1 child policy&quot;) while the amount of energy used and pollution generated each year grows.  Thus you fail to save the planet.</description>
