In a headline today, TIME asks the question, Will Obama’s Anti-Rumor Plan Work? If my little adventure at the new Barack Obama web site, FightTheSmears.com, is any indication, I’d say the answer is, “NO!”
After learning of the site’s existence this afternoon, I immediately went to it and found several groups of alleged lies. After each group, a graphic like the one above appears next to a brief statement attempting to rebut the lie. Below each rebuttal attempt is a link to an e-mail tool via which Obama supporters can “Spread the Word” and shut down the anti-Obama rumor mill.
Just for fun, this anti-Obama blogger decided to see if he could use the same online tool to spread some REAL TRUTH ABOUT OBAMA. Low and behold, it worked!
Below is the text of an e-mail I typed and sent to one of my own e-mail addresses using Senator Obama’s new online tool:
Dear Friend,
Right-wing patriots like me have been telling the truth about Democrat Presidential Candidate Barack Obama and his wife Michelle and the Obama family hates it. Like a chicken that’s come home to roost, the truth about Obama’s history of drug use, his ultra-liberal record in the U.S. Senate and his sweet land deals made possible via his association with convicted criminal Tony Rezko — keeps coming back to bite them.

It appears that the only truth coming from the fightthesmears.com showed up in the form of the last line of the message above (which was automatically added to the message I typed).
After sending the e-mail above, another message appeared on my screen. It began with these words:
Thank you for inviting your friends to help spread the truth.
To that, all I can say is “No, thank YOU, Senator Obama, for providing tools those of us on the right can use to help defeat you.”

I might be mistaken, but the readers are requested to upload their address books to send messages. If that is correct, I really don’t like that idea. Who has access to it once the Obama people have it? Just asking.
Also just because the Obama site says something is false, doesn’t necessarily make it so. That’s just my opinion. I’m still smelling something stinky….

Senator Obama is NOT a Dirty Muslim!
“What you won’t hear from this campaign or this party is the kind of politics that uses religion as a wedge,” says Mr. Obama, while denouncing statements of him being a Muslim as a smear. Why is the presidential candidate who claims to be religiously inclusive is treating the word “Muslim” as an insult? Apparently, it is OK for Mr. Obama to be associated with terrorists like William Ayers or racists like Jeremiah Wright, but God forbid somebody would call him a Muslim! No, he won’t stand for that kind of smear! We admit that most terrorists are Muslims, but most Muslims are not terrorists and the statement on Mr. Obama’s website is insulting to hundreds of millions of people.
How could a man who discards his family heritage in favor of political expediency be even considered for presidency of the United States? Where are all the so-called “Islamic civil rights groups” like CAIR, MPAC, ISNA, MAS, etc. who are quick to defend every Islamic terrorist, but are silent when Muslims in general are being denigrated? Would Mr. Obama have the same reaction if someone claimed that he was raised as a Jew? We sincerely doubt that.
Muslims Against Sharia demand immediate removal of “SMEAR: Barack Obama is a Muslim” statement from the official Barack Obama’s website as well as an apology for giving the word “Muslim” a negative connotation.

You people are so filled with hate. I am sure many of you are small business owners whose businesses are failing, but you will still vote for more of the crap of the last 7+ years. Same thing with the South. The South is extremely poor compared to other areas of the country. Salaries and jobs are low and hard to get, but yet again you will vote McSame.
