The Campaign for the Establishment of a United Nations Parliamentary Assembly attempted on Monday to let the world know 500 lawmakers from around the world were calling for the establishment of a world parliament under the auspices of the dysfunctional U.N. Fortunately for the people of the world, UNPA’s public relations effort seemed to attract little or no attention in either the mainstream news media or the blogosphere.
Published only to show how radical the thought behind this campaign truly is, I’ve published only a portion of the UNPA news release below:
Five hundred lawmakers call for world parliament
Berlin. Over 500 members of parliament from over 80 countries have joined an international Campaign for the Establishment of a United Nations Parliamentary Assembly, or UNPA. “The enthusiastic response of these politicians demonstrates that lawmakers elected at the national level see the necessity of an elected body at the global level and that they now want to take action,” said Andreas Bummel, head of the UNPA Campaign Secretariat, headquartered in Berlin.
The campaign’s parliamentary endorsers believe that solutions to the world’s major economic and environmental problems require that “all human beings engage in collaborative efforts.” A joint appeal signed by the lawmakers recommends “a gradual implementation of democratic participation and representation on the global level.” According to Mr Fernando Iglesias, a member of the Argentine Chamber of Deputies and member of the Latin American regional parliament, “the means to achieve this is an elected body at the UN.”
The Latin American Parliament’s Commission on Political Affairs recently adopted a declaration endorsing the proposal. Additionally it is supported by the European Parliament, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the Pan-African Parliament and the Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development of the Canadian House of Commons. The President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Mr Luís Maria de Puig from Spain stated that “the establishment of a UN Parliamentary Assembly would be an important step to bring the UN closer to the world’s citizens.”
Read the rest of the news release if you must, but, trust me, it doesn’t get any better. Instead, it reads like a call for one world government.
Check back later in the week as much more remains to be revealed about backers of the UNPA effort.

“World Government” is progressive code for the world-sanctioned looting of the US by the Third World. Nigerian (and other) 419ers should be forced to keep their attempts at looting to their email scams, and not officially sanctioned as a government function.
“World government”…what a progressive, udopian joke.

ridiculous as usual.
Just another whiney rant about how the mean ol’ UN (despite being hamstrung by the good ol’ US of A) is threatening to become a world government.
I for one would welcome someone at the UN not appointed by the dictators, presidents, prime ministers and other executive hacks. Maybe for once, what the little guy wants will get through and if not, I can help kick the bums out.
Grow up, realize you have to share this sandbox and if you start throwing your crap around, others are not going to take it.

Tony — I’ve always wanted to respond with this: “Baloney!” Take your UN-loving bucket and shovel and get the heck out of my sandbox!
