America is blessed with the world’s greatest wind power corridor and abundant reserves of clean natural gas, says my fellow Oklahoma State University graduate, T. Boone Pickens. At the same time, it’s facing a three-pronged crisis — economic, environmental and national security — as a result of its dependence on foreign oil. That said, the hypersuccessful oilman has a plan — The Pickens Plan — to help solve the nation’s energy woes.
In short, The Plan calls for building new wind generation facilities that will produce 20 percent of our nation’s electricity and allow us to use natural gas as a transportation fuel. The combination of these domestic energies can replace more than one-third of our foreign oil imports. And we can do it all in 10 years.
I watched the video below in which the details are explained by T. Boone himself and think he might have something worth considering. Unfortunately, it requires consensus on the part of Americans — liberal, conservative, left, right and wacko — to come to fruitions. Watch the video and let me know what you think.

The oil lobby and the Texans (G.H. Bush and G.W. Bush) in the White House have really have put this nation in dire straits w.r.t. our energy policy.
Based on my education, experience and gut … I think Solar Power is the ultimate long term solution to the World’s energy needs. But solar’s efficiency and technology is not ready to take center stage, yet. We, as a nation, have not invested wisely (one might say have not invested at all) nor adequately in solar energy solutions.
Solar provides an inexhaustable supply of energy, we only need to keep our atmosphere clear enough of smog, etc. to receive it. But, like wind energy, once the equipment to capture it is deployed a corporation or utility can’t easily charge you for usage. So its not in the interest of traditional energy companies and utilities to vigorously promote solar, or wind energy.
Though I believe solar is the ultimate solution … With all the Mean Green, and proven track record of success that Pickens has behind him, I will definitely read, listen and keep an open mind to his Wind Power promotions: http://www.pickensplan.com
We DEFINITELY need SOMETHING other than oil.

I won’t pass blame there is plenty to go around – includluding every SUV owner ( me being one). Wind can work now and we need a program to make solar cost effective. $15 billinon in tax credits to develop renewables is better than $700 billion we will pay this year to countries like Venezuala and the middle east.
