After learning that Morgan Freeman had been seriously injured in a traffic accident Sunday night in Mississippi, I decided to visit the Federal Election Commission files and find out whether or not the Academy Award-winning actor had donated anything to either Democrat Barack Obama or Republican John McCain.
To find an answer, I took the following steps:
- First, I visited FEC.gov and clicked on the Advanced Search option;
- Next, I entered Freeman’s last and first names in the appropriate blocks and filled in the date range blocks, using “01/01/2000″ as the beginning date and “08/04/2008″ as the ending date; and
- Finally, I selected “All contributions” as the type, I clicked the “Send Query” button.
The graphic below shows that the 71-year-old Freeman contributed the maximum amount, $2,300, to Barack Obama via Obama for America.
When I clicked on the 11-digit number (27930595374) at right in the graphic above, a copy of an FEC Schedule A form appeared. Below is an excerpt (section C) of the form that pertains specifically to the well-known actor.
Now that I know that the actor appearing in the blockbuster Batman sequel, Dark Knight, is an Obama supporter, I’m adding him to the roster of actors, celebrities and others who’s liberalism causes me to say, “I DON’T LISTEN TO HOLLYWOOD!”
NOTE: In case you’re a liberal and want to send Freeman a get-well note, his address appears in section C of Schedule A (shown above). According to the Street Views pop-up feature (see graphic below) on Google Maps, he appears to live above a West 41st Street theater showing the musical, RENT.
