Would it be wrong to pray for rain of Biblical proportions to fall during Barack Obama’s televised outdoor acceptance speech during the Democratic National Convention Aug. 28 in Denver? That question is the central focus of an extremely funny video (below) that was put together by Focus on the Family’s Stuart Shepard.
An article in the Rocky Mountain News yesterday — via Drudge — alerted me to the existence of the video. Because the video was pulled from the Focus web site after a number of complaints were received, I was able to find only one anti-Focus posting of it on YouTube — so ignore the “more info” text on the right side of the YouTube page and ENJOY!
As for me and my house, we’ll be praying for heavy rain at Invesco Field on the evening of Aug. 28 in Denver.

If you want a good laugh, take a look at how the comment from the person above appeared on my moderation dashboard. Simply click here. Note the e-mail address that, though certainly a fake e-mail address, reflects on its owner more than it does on me.

I think got answered your prayer by blessing the righteous and punishing the wicked.
The forecast for tonightin Denver is clear and cool.
On the opening night of the Republican convention, the forecast for New Orleans is a hurricane. A big, fat reminder of how Republicans talk big on God, gays, and guns but do nothing when it comes to helping the poor.
God heard your prayer. Those raindrops you hear is him spitting on you.

Bob — Weathermen are wrong quite often. One, in particular, comes to mind: Obama’s friend, William Ayers.

Looks like your invisible friend won’t come through in Denver tonight!
What a laugh!

Tom — “Tonight” is still hours away and, regardless of how things turn out, He is still my friend. Is He yours? I hope so.

Quit talking to yourself, nothing’s listening smart guy. Human beings are just animals, nothing more, and there’s no magic being controlling this world like a puppet show. You’re brainwashed beyond repair. Shut up.

No God — If you call having the promise of eternal life being “brainwashed,” then I’m guilty. At the same time, I hope you will consider using some of the same “soap” on your brain. It works wonders and makes you feel good…forever!

If god can grant you eternal life, why can he not defeat me? Oh…gotta go…gotta go spread some more dinosaur bones around.

Rise up, O God, and defend your cause; remember how fools mock you all day long. – Psalm 74:22

How did that “Pray for Rain” work out for you?
Since God didn’t answer your prayer, are you going to renounce the Republicans, who God has obviously foresaken in favor of real Americans?
13 hotoffthepress2 // Aug 28, 2008 at 7:19 pm
Pete — See my last comment.
14 Bill Bennett // Aug 28, 2008 at 9:07 pm
Didn’t rain tonight in Denver, did it?
You morons.
15 hotoffthepress2 // Aug 28, 2008 at 9:30 pm
Bill — It rained where I live, so there!
16 Jim Willie // Aug 28, 2008 at 9:51 pm
You are a ridiculous idiot. I hope your knees are bleeding.. No rain! Not even a cloud.
17 Alex // Aug 28, 2008 at 10:47 pm
You prayed for rain in denver, you get a hurricane in new orleans to remind people of the republicans incompetence. I love the irony, maybe there is a god XD
18 Jinchi // Aug 28, 2008 at 11:55 pm
Looks like you hit the wrong target and took out McCain’s convention instead.
Better luck, next time.

This is so funny. Clear and comfortable in the Mile High City on a historic night, but storms are on the forecast that may interrupt the RNC…it doesn’t get any better than that…Priceless!
It’s proof that God truly LOVES the DNC!
20 chad // Aug 30, 2008 at 10:40 pm
well your prayer was answered…….in the form of a damn hurricane that’ll hit the same time as the RNC……good job idiot, karma’s a bitch
21 Janet // Aug 31, 2008 at 9:26 am
As my Mother told me, “be careful what you pray for!!!”
I feel sorry for the people of New Orleans and LA in general. But isn’t it ironic that a no less than a hurricane is threatening the Republican convention attendees
22 michael // Aug 31, 2008 at 9:32 am
Is the irony starting to sink in that George Bush is scheduled to speak to the Republican convention while a hurricane hits New Orleans? Ye have sown the wind and will reap the whirlwind.
23 TheQuail // Aug 31, 2008 at 9:39 am
Actually, it did rain in Denver..at part of the DNC!
…
The sprinkler system in the FOX News skybox went off at 5 in the morning and soaked everything. XD
24 TheQuail // Aug 31, 2008 at 9:47 am
Oh, and, to save you some trouble:
Republican politicians will never get rid of abortion and gay marriage entirely…while making it look like they will by getting rid of it in a few states or one of the many methods it is practiced. If they didn’t do it between 2002-2006, they never will. You see, they’re not stupid, they recognize that if they get rid of these two issues they will lose millions of voters, since I guess helping the poor and loving your neighbors are also core Christian values. So, get over that. If you really want them gone, either vote for conservative Democrats, who have nothing to lose, or form your own political party.
25 hotoffthepress2 // Aug 31, 2008 at 11:29 am
TheQuail — The only thing I agree with among the last several comments posted is your suggestion, “…or form your own political party.” I do like that idea, because I haven’t been pleased with either of the two major parties for quite a while.
26 emory mayne // Aug 31, 2008 at 1:36 pm
Now that rain did not appear in Denver during the DNC convention, and a major hurricane is going to pound the coast of America on the same day the RNC convention starts; do you think that God maybe on the side of Democrats?
You are @#$@#2 moron.
27 The Truth // Aug 31, 2008 at 2:54 pm
Since McCain has never had a job in his life, maybe he can start building an Ark to get out of this great flood. God don’t like ugly!
28 RyanD. // Aug 31, 2008 at 3:55 pm
So, FOX News got rained on and theres a Katrina-like storm cancelling the RNC?
Oh, sweet biblical justice.
29 hotoffthepress2 // Aug 31, 2008 at 5:01 pm
emory — how long did it take you to come up with that? You’re about the umpteenth liberal to spout that line. Think of something more original next time, please. I have readers to think about.
30 hotoffthepress2 // Aug 31, 2008 at 5:02 pm
The “truth” — First, your screen name is a joke. You forget, John McCain was a naval aviator before becoming a member of Congress. Liberals like you don’t recognize military service as work, right? Geesh!
31 hotoffthepress2 // Aug 31, 2008 at 5:04 pm
Ryan — Another unoriginal comment. Please, be original if you must post comments here.
32 madvilletimes // Aug 31, 2008 at 7:36 pm
I don’t mind folks praying for change… but I’d rather they get off their knees and help the rest of us doing the actual work. “Prayer never brought in no side-meat,” said Tom Joad… and it sho’ nuff can’t aim the rain.
