Two weeks ago, the nation’s news media outlets broke “news” about a supposedly-bipartisan energy plan hatched by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and a “Group of 10″ U.S. senators. Unfortunately, that plan falls far short of what is needed, according to Red Cavaney.
Cavaney, president and chief executive officer of the American Petroleum Institute, outlined his group’s opposition to the Group of 10 plan in a letter sent to Capitol Hill Wednesday. I obtained a copy of that letter today and find myself in complete agreement with the folks at API. In particular, I found the following statement speaks volumes to anyone listening:
“Current world events only reinforce the critical importance of ensuring that our nation develop the full range of its domestic energy resources for economic competitiveness and national security reasons.”
I encourage you to read the letter and forward this post to your contacts to make sure this viewpoint receives the widest possible dissemination.
