“You might be a redneck soldier if you mount a high-energy laser weapon system on the back of your government-issued pickup truck.”

I wouldn’t be surprised to hear comedian Jeff Foxworthy say this one day in the near future.  Until then, we’ll count on the folks at Boeing to put together the mobile laser weapon to make Foxworthy’s humor possible.

According to a news release issued today, the Boeing Company has been awarded a U.S. Army contract valued at approximately $36 million to continue developing a truck-mounted, high-energy laser weapon system that will destroy rockets, artillery shells and mortar rounds.  Click here to read the entire news release.
