A television spot released by the John McCain campaign soon after Barack Obama announced his selection of Joe Biden as his running mate contains an interesting exchange between ABC’s George Stephanopoulus and Biden:

Stephanopoulus:  “You were asked if he’s ready.  You said, ‘I think (Obama) can be ready, but right now, I don’t believe he is.  The presidency is not something that lends itself to on-the-job training.”

Biden:  “I stand by that statement.”

The exchange was followed by a clip showing Biden, a 36-year veteran of Capitol Hill from Deleware, talking about McCain:

“I would be honored to run with or against John McCain.  I think the country would be better off.”

Now, we can expect to see Biden attempt to extricate himself from those statements.

Kris — Same here. The question, “With friends like Biden, who needs enemies?” jumps to the front of my mind.
