Fox News Channel is reporting that flights across the country are being affected by the failure of a computer communications system located at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport. That system, according to Fox, handles FAA flight planning for aircraft based, primarily, on the East Coast.
The FAA web site’s status information map (above) indicates general airport conditions and is not flight-specific. The orange dots indicate that “Traffic destined to this airport is being delayed at its departure point.”
The Department of Homeland Security reports that no evidence of terrorism has been identified at this point.
