In a post published eight months ago, I made the following prediction:
“My prediction is that neither Clinton nor McCain will win the nominations of their respective parties. Instead of giving up, however, they will opt to run together on an Independent ticket based on the conclusion that their total is worth more to voters than the sum of their parts.”
As things turned out, my prediction was half-wrong: Hillary Clinton lost the Democratic Party presidential nomination to an upstart junior senator from Illinois by the name of Barack Obama, and John McCain surprised most pundits by winning the Republican nod. As a result of these primary outcomes, I’m compelled to recast the above-mentioned prediction in the form of more-timely what-if question:
“What if McCain names Clinton as his running mate — and she accepts?!”
While some will discount this as a possibility by saying it will hurt McCain’s chances of winning, I won’t rule it out. Imagine the media buzz that would be generated by the maverick Arizona senator selecting the former first lady.
As far as Clinton is concerned, a vice presidential shot with McCain might be her first and final opportunity to occupy one of the top two spots in the White House. If she can bring enough votes to the ticket to offset the number of voters McCain loses by picking her, McCain just might pick her.
Stranger things have happened.

Intersting, but I don’t see it happening. It would be Biden times 10. The Dems would have a field day bringing up Hillary attack ads on John McCain.
