I’ll wager dimes to donuts that the same people who criticized my recent tongue-in-cheek post post, I’ll Be Praying for Rain in Denver on Aug. 28, are now hoping — but not necessarily praying to God about it since they are atheists — that Hurricane Gustav hits New Orleans and the Gulf Coast as soon as possible. If that (a.k.a., “the unthinkable”) happens, the storm could impact the nation for four years or longer.
Here’s how it might pan out: The pain and suffering associated with such a catastrophic weather event will, undoubtedly, steal the news media spotlight from the Republican National Convention which opens Monday in St. Paul, Minn. Members of the mainstream news media will, in turn, feel obligated to refresh Americans’ memories about the less-than-stellar federal government response to Hurricane Katrina. At the same time, Barack Obama and the Democratic Party minions will seize every opportunity to connect memories of Katrina to the Bush Administration and, though not warranted, to John McCain.
Though specious, such six-degrees-of-separation logic could damage the McCain-Palin ticket’s chances of winning Nov. 4. Here’s to hoping that Hurricane Gustav fades, fizzles or otherwise changes its path so as to cause little or no damage wherever it goes.

Interesting…although, as you point out, they won’t be praying to our God, but maybe to “Mother Earth” since they worship in the Green Church???
