Thanks to all — conservatives and liberals alike — who helped this blog set several new traffic records during the month of August. Those records include unique visitors (43,527), total visits (56,695), page views (170,850) and almost two-million hits (1,974,521). The average visit duration was 2.5 minutes — or 162 seconds to be exact. Much of the interest in Bob McCarty Writes was generated by a handful of topics highlighted below:

• An Aug. 23 post, Lawsuit Challenges Barack Obama Citizenship, highlighted a lawsuit filed by prominent Philadelphia attorney and Hillary Clinton supporter Phillip Berg that contests Barack Obama’s citizenship qualifications to seek the presidency. Most of the hits from this one resulted from Google searches.

• An Aug. 18 post, Will Cross Adorn Coca-Cola Cans This Christmas, introduced readers to Coca-Cola’s plan to feature the crescent moon and star symbol of the Islamic faith its packaging during Ramadan 2008. Not surprisingly, it caught the attention of some big-name sites, including Michelle Malkin’s Hot Air blog, Jim Hoft’s Gateway Pundit, World Net Daily. In addition, it generated guest appearances on two radio shows. I appeared on 97.1 FM Talk’s Allman and Crane in the Morning in St. Louis Aug. 19 and on WRAF-FM’s The Jody Hice Show in the Atlanta area Aug. 28 (to air this week).

• A July 21 post, Barack Obama Birth Certificate Dubbed a Fake, continued to generate much interest during August and was followed up by the two other posts, Update Offered on Bogus Obama Birth Certificate (Aug. 4) and Blogger Demands FEC Verify Obama’s Eligibility (Aug. 7), and then the aforementioned lawsuit post.

• An Aug. 16 post, Saddleback Civil Forum Observations Offered, offered my assessment of the non-debate during which Dr. Rick Warren, pastor of Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, Calif., asked Democrat Barack Obama questions during the first hour and Republican John McCain during the second hour.
