Sarah Palin’s Top 20 Jabs at the Democrats

September 3rd, 2008 · 15 Comments

I used a headline to describe the address tonight by John McCain’s running mate to delegates at the Republican National Convention:  Sarah Palin Nails Speech at Republican Convention.  Below are “Sarah Palin’s Top 20 Jabs at the Democrats” from that speech:

  1. “I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a ‘community organizer,’ except that you have actual responsibilities.”
  2. “I might add that in small towns, we don’t quite know what to make of a candidate who lavishes praise on working people when they are listening, and then talks about how bitterly they cling to their religion and guns when those people aren’t listening.”
  3. “But here’s a little news flash for all those reporters and commentators: I’m not going to Washington to seek their good opinion – I’m going to Washington to serve the people of this country. Americans expect us to go to Washington for the right reasons, and not just to mingle with the right people.”
  4. “That luxury jet was over the top. I put it on eBay.”
  5. “…we Americans need to produce more of our own oil and gas.  And take it from a gal who knows the North Slope of Alaska: we’ve got lots of both.”
  6. “But listening to (Barack Obama) speak, it’s easy to forget that this is a man who has authored two memoirs but not a single major law or reform – not even in the state senate.”
  7. “This is a man who can give an entire speech about the wars America is fighting, and never use the word “victory” except when he’s talking about his own campaign.”
  8. “Victory in Iraq is finally in sight … (Barack Obama) wants to forfeit.”
  9. “Terrorist states are seeking new-clear weapons without delay … (Barack Obama) wants to meet them without preconditions.”
  10. “Al Qaeda terrorists still plot to inflict catastrophic harm on America … (Barack Obama’s) worried that someone won’t read them their rights?”
  11. “Government is too big … (Barack Obama) wants to grow it.”
  12. “Congress spends too much … (Barack Obama) promises more.”
  13. “Taxes are too high … (Barack Obama) wants to raise them. His tax increases are the fine print in his economic plan, and let me be specific.”
  14. “And then there are those, like John McCain, who use their careers to promote change. They’re the ones whose names appear on laws and landmark reforms, not just on buttons and banners, or on self-designed presidential seals.”
  15. “(Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid) said, quote, ‘I can’t stand John McCain.’ Ladies and gentlemen, perhaps no accolade we hear this week is better proof that we’ve chosen the right man.”
  16. “My fellow citizens, the American presidency is not supposed to be a journey of ‘personal discovery.’ This world of threats and dangers is not just a community, and it doesn’t just need an organizer.”
  17. “There is only one man in this election who has ever really fought for you … in places where winning means survival and defeat means death … and that man is John McCain.”
  18. It’s a long way from the fear and pain and squalor of a six-by-four cell in Hanoi to the Oval Office. But if Senator McCain is elected president, that is the journey he will have made.”
  19. “It’s the journey of an upright and honorable man – the kind of fellow whose name you will find on war memorials in small towns across this country, only he was among those who came home.”
  20. “As the story is told, ‘When McCain shuffled back from torturous interrogations, he would turn toward Moe’s door and flash a grin and thumbs up” – as if to say, ‘We’re going to pull through this.’ My fellow Americans, that is the kind of man America needs to see us through these next four years.”

Don’t leave out the jab up to the “styrofoam greek columns” take. It was classic! lol!

    No executive experience

Obama seems to have left out this job from his resume ..

Recently [1995] he [Obama] was appointed president of the board of the Annenberg Challenge Grant, which will distribute some $50 million in grants to public-school reform efforts.”

… I wonder why … this would be an excellent comeback for Obama to all those complaints that he never had executive experience or handled a payroll.

Barack leaves out the Annenberg information as it is a direct link to Bill Ayers. LOL.

Yeah, the styrofoam columns jab was priceless.

I thought one of her best lines was when she looked directly into the camera, talking about being belittled for being a mayor, and said something to the effect of ‘let me explain that to you’ – pitch perfect delivery of scalding content. Sweet.

wrt the Annenberg Challenge – there are probably silent prayers of thanks to who or whatever from the Obama camp every time BO gets slammed for ‘no experience’, because the ACG experience is certainly NOT material the well groomed and articulate product of the Chicago machine really wants anyone seriously studying – case in point: the attempt to bar Stanley Kurtz from National Review from accessing the records of the ACG on deposit at the U of I library in Chicago.

There’s been a careful calculus performed weighing the pros and cons of letting people focus on that period of Barry’s life – with Team Messiah deciding against – which is EXACTLY the reason The One’s innefectual and old style ‘keep the cash flowing’ “experience” should be examined and reported upon extensively.

Terrorists, bigoted hatemongers, con artists and bag men, oh my.

Better that he’s inexperienced – cause his actual experiences reek.

[...] http://bobmccarty.com/2008/09/03/sarah-palins-top-20-jabs-at-the-democrats/ . . * One final note: In her speech, Gov. Palin told the tale of another POW who was held in the same prison as John McMain during the war. His name was Tom Moe. He’s an ND man. Below is a link to his account of his experience in Vietnam in the Winter 1995 edition of Notre Dame Magazine. An absolute must read. . . http://www.nd.edu/~ndmag/moew95.html . . . [...]

I just wanted to point out some things about some of these “Top 20″ that they all don’t refer to Democrats…

#1: Palin seems to be discrediting Christian community action groups which are faith based charities. Something Geroge bush and other Evangelicals like her support.

#4: The Jet was actually purchased by Frank Murkowski , a Republican, while he was in office.

#5: Obama’s issues plan calls for more American drilling of oil and natural gas. Whats the jab?

#8: The Iraqi government is actively pushing for American Troop withdraw timetables.

#11 and #12: One of Palin’s most noted achievements as a Mayor was hiring a lobbyist firm to secure $27 million in earmarked funds. The earmarks included $500,000 for a youth shelter, $1.9 million for a transportation hub, $900,000 for sewer repairs, and $15 million for a rail project linking Wasilla and the ski resort community of Girdwood. John McCain criticized these earmarks.

#13: Perhaps taxes are too high because Palin sought Fed funds for State projects like Ski resort communities. Both Obama and McCain have tax cuts in their proposed budgets.

#14, 18,19,20: Are all basic statements about McCain in reference to no one. Perhaps 14 maybe if you stretch it. The last 3 are all about McCain’s war record. They have nothing to do with Democratics and jabs.

Salad — You bias is showing.

  • 8 Slade // Sep 4, 2008 at 2:50 pm

    And yours isn’t?

The Republicans bought that jet. Thats not a jab at Dems.

How is pointing out McCain was a POW a jab at Dems? Is being a POW in and of itself, a jab?

  • 9 hotoffthepress2 // Sep 4, 2008 at 2:55 pm

Slade — Mine’s showing, too, but it’s right!

  • 10 Slade // Sep 4, 2008 at 3:02 pm

Yeah right. Darn those pesky facts.

Is bias showing inconsistencies or inaccuracies of this post and those quotes?

If I am wrong prove it.

    You are ignoring facts again…

  • 11 hotoffthepress2 // Sep 4, 2008 at 3:05 pm

Slade — I’m not ignoring facts; rather, I’m ignoring you. Guys like you tend to think they’re the most important people in the universe and, as a result, try to dominate the time of people like me. I’m not going to play that game.

  • 12 Slade // Sep 4, 2008 at 3:07 pm

How noble. Yet you are the guy publishing a website that spins and disinforms and ignores the truth. Good job.

  • 13 hotoffthepress2 // Sep 4, 2008 at 3:10 pm

Slade — If you hate it so much, go start your own blog or web site. I’m quite happy doing what I do, regardless of whether I receive your approval. And, by the way, I’m not the one wearing rose-colored glasses.

  • 14 Slade // Sep 4, 2008 at 3:37 pm

I guess it’s just too much to ask for a little integrity these days. Good luck with the culture of disinformation.

  • 15 hotoffthepress2 // Sep 4, 2008 at 3:38 pm

Slade — Go to DailyKos or HuffPo. You’ll be welcomed there, I’m certain.
